Margherita Palli’s set design was dazzling: an immense wheat field and a vibrant blue sky (created with Alessandro Papa’s video mapping) evoked the scorching summer of the first act. In contrast, the second act depicted the ruthless Russian winter with a landscape of ice blocks, an effect enhanced by Pasquale Mari’s lighting.

Cosi Fan Tutte
Stage director Robert Carsen offers a contemporary reading that is as ingenious as it is coherent. Carsen relocates the action to the world of modern television, turning the protagonists into contestants on a dating reality show: a mix of Temptation Island, The Bachelor, Perfect Match. The show, titled “La scuola degli amanti” (The School for Lovers), the opera’s original subtitle, tests the strength of the couples and exposes them to temptations, just as in real-life reality TV.
